Icy Friday..

Today there is no school for my daughter and no work for me due to the Icy morning we woke to. It reminds me of 1998 when the ice storm knocked out our power for 7 days. Not that bad this time around. It is just icy and cold. We recieved a little snow, but mostly freezing rain and sleet. In Maine you only have to wait a few minutes and the weather will change. It's suppose to be up to 38-40 degrees this weekend. Ah,, the joys of winter in the Northeast. A day to stay in, wrap gifts, and craft..Pure Bliss!

Missing my Mother

Today has a very special and sad day for me. Today would have been my Mother's 81st birthday. My mom passed away 6 1/2 years ago in August of 2002. My mother was an incredible woman who always put her children first, who cared for others, who was very funny, full of life and was loved more than you could imagine.
So today is a tribute to my mom "Lorraine" and all the reasons I still miss her terribly and wish she was here to call, see my children graduate from school, and continue to be the best mother in the world.
I do know that I'll see her on the Streets of Gold someday and we'll get to talk about everything all over again..( thank God it will be for an eterenity, I don't think we'd have enough time otherwise!) ;)

Holiday Shopping

Well, yesterday I had to venture out and I seemed to have traveled all over central and southern Maine. I had to go to Walmart to find a bowl set that I saw on "Cherry Hill Cottage". I love Tina's house and love her ideas. She recently featured this bowl in her blog and I had to try and find it. So, at Walmart, looking like a mad woman, I found it. Only problem was there was one left and a woman was standing in front of it looking at it. She wasn't reaching for it or anything, so I said "excuse me", and snatched it up.. YEAH!! it's mine!!

I also found this great ribbon and bows yesterday as well.. great for wrapping or for crafting. I can't wait to do something with it. I have an old flour sack that I'd like to make into an apron and us the wide red ribbon on it as the waistband..we'll have to see if that works.

Had a great day, and came home with many finds.. some I can't post as I have a sister who reads the blog,,( No peeking till Christmas),,, blessings to all,..Tracey
