Lunch hour bargin shopping

Today I was in a hurry and trying to buy stationery.. do you know they don't seem to make it anymore. I guess no one actually writes a letter anymore. Well, I'm on a mission and while on my lunch hour today I couldn't find any stationery, but found these instead,,,

clocks,( no hands, but I can add those) for 1.96

a pin (with no pin back, I can glue one one) .60
lip glosses for stocking stuffers .99
and this cute note paper...love it.. .99
yes, not bad, 8.00 and some change.. Happy bargin hunting!

JACKPOT! I love when that happens. Isn't it sad that note writing is becoming a thing of the past! I received a beautiful note from a fellow blogger and it was such a thrill to open the mailbox and see a hand written note.

I want to pass along the great tradition of note writing, please send me your address sweet friend and I will sen you an good "old-fashioned" hand written note!

Love and hugs,
Karyn

Dearest Tracey, I too have been noticing that for the past few years pretty (affordable!) stationery seems to have gone the way of the dinosaur. You used to be able to find pretty writing paper at just about any dollar, drug or department store (amongst others) and now it's getting impossible to find.

Some places I've had mixed luck have been:

-Ethnic specialty stores that sell home goods (I have lots of fun paper from Japan with cute critters and foods on them that I found at some Asian stores in a nearby town).

-The printer paper aisle of shops like Staples, Office Depot and Wal-Mart. Look for printed letter sized paper that was designed to be used in a printer and use it to write on instead.

-Card stores sometimes have stationery, though it can be pricey. I try to hit Christmas and New Year season sales at such shops, I've often scored stationery sets for as much as 75% off at such sales.

-Garage/yard sales - even thrift shops (years ago I once got a bag of coloured envelopes that were in perfect condition at Value Village for about a buck!). So long as the paper is in good shape and doesn't smell musty, it's as good as new.

-The card/stationery aisle of book stores. Such places can be on the pricey side, but as with card stores, they sometimes put their paper goods on sale and you can find a lovely set or two at a great price.

I basically keep my eyes peeled for stationery (that doesn't cost a fortune) any time I'm shopping. You never know where a pretty pack of paper will pop up! :)

Thank you dearly for your beautiful, touching comment yesterday about my Halloween outfit. Your words mean a great deal to me, sweet soul.

Huge hugs,
♥ Jessica

Oh Tracey, how do you do it with your hubby gone so much? :( Hang in there...if I hang in there you can hang in there, right? :) I think I am a bit "lonely" since breaking up with the boyfriend also...he's been trying to get back into my life and I have been going back and forth...and we'll be in the swing of things, then back to old habits. *sigh* I think that, coupled with the weather and maybe a mid life crisis...like gee, I should be here at this age, etc. Ugh! I just have to buck up and move forward. Thanks for listening to me and always being there for me!!

xoxo

Michelle :)

I love those clocks, other than adding the hands, any creative ideas on how you are going to display them? It's great to find bargins.
